Chang Daozhi(1887-1975), also known as Chang Daozhi, graduated from Peking Higher Normal School in 1922. He went to the Teachers College at Columbia University, the University of London, and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Berlin from 1925 to 1928. Upon his return to China, he taught at the Central University, Beijing Normal University, Anhui University and Sichuan University. He served as a professor at the Department of Education of East China Normal University in Shanghai after the foundation of the People’s Republic of China.
This book focuses on education in Germany, France, England and America and analyzes the organization of education administrative bodies in the four countries respectively, including primary education, free education, the setup and curriculum of secondary schools, as well as the training of primary and secondary school teachers. The appendices record his observations in Europe and America.
