Grantham College of Education
In 1950, the Government formulated plans to expand primary school education to cope with the drastic increase in population. Consequently, the Grantham Training College was established, named after the then Governor, Sir Alexander Grantham. It was originally located at King’s College, before eventually being moved to the Gascoigne Road campus in Kowloon. In the early years of the College, a one-year program for training primary school teachers was offered. The College was subsequently re-titled the Grantham College of Education in 1967.
