This plaque is divided into four parts : the upper left corner shows a Christmas card of Community Youth Club (CYC) ; the bottom left corner shows the opening speech by the Director of Education, Mr Li Yuet Ting J.P. ; in the middle shows a photo taken at "the world's largest poster" ceremony at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay ; on the right shows a copy of a certificate issued by the Guinness Book of Records.
Community Youth Club of the Education Department was established in 1974, and was implemented by the Government in response to the Clean Hong Kong Campaign. The former Education Department set up small clean-up teams in primary and secondary schools, providing opportunities to the students to directly be involved in community work, through various cleaning campaigns of the environment. After years of development, the teams officially changed its name to Community Youth Club (CYC) in February 1978. The slogan and purpose of the CYC are "understanding, caring and service". It provides more opportunities to primary and secondary students to understand and serve in the community. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of The CYC in 1987, its members co-operated to create an area of 2582 square meters for a poster, applying to The Guinness Book of Records for the poster to be declared as the world’s largest poster. CYC also held "the world's largest poster" ceremony at the Victoria Park in Causeway Bay on 12 November 1978. The ceremony invited the Director of Education, Mr Li Yuet Ting J.P. to deliver an opening speech. The upper left corner of this plaque shows a Christmas card of CYC which was a part of the poster.
