"Lei Tongqun (1888- d.o.d. unknown), was from Taishan, Guangdong Province. He was an educational sociologist in China. In the late Qing Dynasty, he attended Tokyo Tertiary Normal School in Japan and went to Stanford University for further studies. He was one of the first scholars to advocate the “sinologization of sociology of education”. He focused on researching Chinese educational issues, and used systematic and scientific research methods to build up the field of Chinese sociology of education.
